WATER POLICE ON EXTORTION CHARGES
DENIED MAKING DECLARATION
"You are to prepare your case before coming here," remarked the Honourable Commander G. F. Hole, Harbour Master, _to Sergeant the Wheeler (L.S.A. 216) in the Marine this Court this morning, in refusing to grant an application for remanding a 58-year-old Chinese woman who was charged with making a false declaration at Yaumati.
Ten Chinese members of Water Police were charged morning at the Kowloon Police Court with having conspired to extort money from various persons on different dates between April 1 and May 23.
Additional charges of attempted extortion were preferred against two of the accused.
The case is for committal accused are being represented Mr. C. A. S. Russ.
The case was remanded Saturday morning.
