Children's Carnival In Kowloon
ONE of the biggest carnival attractions for chil- dren to be organised locally, on the open space opposite the Peninsula Hotel, was thronged this afternoon when the Children's Charity Fair and Dress Parade, in aid of the National Association for the Care of War Orphans (Hong Kong Branch) was in full swing from 2 p.m.
Hundreds of school-children and, adults thronged the grounds of the Fair shortly after the gates were thrown open, and took part in the different games and competitions.
Pony Rides were one of the main attractions at the Fair and both children and adults, some for the first times in their lives, were seen on the backs of animals supplied by the Kowloon Riding School and the Hong Kong Riding School.
Kiddies were also catered for in this respect goats being substituted for ponies. There were also Bran Tubs, Fish Ponds, Slides, a Bear Den and a Conjurer who was mob- bed by the children demanding that "impossible" tricks be executed.
DRESS PARADE This afternoon a Dress Parade is being held, including a Wedding Group, both European and Chinese. A General Dress Parade, exhibiting ancient and modern European and Chinese Consumes, is scheduled to take place later.
Raffle Prizes are to be distributed this evening by Lady Pollock and
Madame Sun Yat Sun.
At 6 p.m. a cinema performance
