Warsaw, To-day.
The Polish memorandum replying to the German Note denouncing the Polish-German Agree- ment of 1934, was handed to the German Am- bassador yesterday.
BRITISH RECOGNITION OF SLOVAKIA
Bratislava, To-day. Britain's de facto recognition of Slovakin has been followed, Reuter learns, by the appointment of Mr. Peter Pares, of the British Con- sular Service, as British Consul in Bratislava with the concurrence of the Slovak Government.
Mr. Pares has been in Bratis- lava for some time. He previous- ly held exequatur from the Czecho-Slovak Government-Reu-
ter.
The memorandum states that the Polish Govern- ment had foreseen that the difficulties experi- enced by the League of Nations in administer- ing Danzig would create a confused situation SPANISH which must be clarified in the interest of Poland and Germany.
After stating that the Polish Government has al- ways considered its obligations based on the Polish-German declaration of 1934, the memor- andum proceeds:
"For several years the Polish
Government has given the Ger REMARKABLE
man Government to understand that it has been possible to pro- ceed with sincere conversations on this subject.
"However, the German Govern- ment only replied that the Dan- zig problem should not interfere with German-Polish relations.

The memorandum rejects the thesis that - the Anglo-Polish understanding is incompatible with the Polish-German non- aggression pact, which it says Hitler had no right to denounce. ANY VALUE!
The Ukrainian deputies joined in the applause when a resolution ap- proving the speech was carried.
General Zeligowski, who seized Vilna for Poland, jumped from his seat and ran to shake hands with Col. Beck, whose policy he has hit- herto opposed.
