RUMANIA PLEASED BY TONE OF COLONEL BECK'S REPLY TO REICH
Bucharest, To-day. Colonel Beck's speech is regarded in well-informed Rumanian quarters as being exemplary in firmness, dignity and decisiveness.
At the same time, it is pointed out that the speech is not aggressive in tone, and that Col. Beck has not closed the door to future discussions on Danzig and the Corridor problems on a basis of equal standing of both nations.
According to the same circles, the question of Russia's future policy is even more important than Col. Beck's speech, and the fact that 48 hours have passed since the news of M. Maxim Litvinoff's resignation without a statement on Russia's policy, "is regarded significant.

It is believed that if Stalin's in- tention had been to adhere gen- erally to the policy of M. Litvinoff, even though modifying it in detail, there would have already been some statement to this effect from Moscow. Reuter.
