General Smuts Regrets League's Downfall

A grave warning regarding the present condi- tion of "armed anarchy" in Europe was uttered by Gen. Smuts, South African Minister of Justice, ad- dressing the Capetown branch of the United Party of South Africa.

He said that there was a state of lawlessness abroad “such as had not existed in our lifetime, be- fore or after the Great War.'
