A GIRL WHO OFFERED HER LIFE FOR LOVE WAS EXECUT- ED BY THE HEADSMAN' IN BERLIN, AND. EUROPE HAS LOST ONE OF ITS GREATEST BEAUTIES.
When Carl Weiner, an Alsatian, was condemned to death by the People's Court for spying on behalf of France, he was offered pardon on condition that he betrayed the girl at, whose instigation he had become a spy.
He refused, "und the date of his execution was actually fixed when. Irma Vasiliev gave herself up to. the authorities and stated that she was the woman concerned.
Within a few hours of her sur render Irma was put on trial and was condemned to death. :
