Malayan Pack Must Heel Ball

this

Facing probably the strongest opposition of their tour afternoon on the Club ground at 4.30 p.m., the Malayan Rugby Union fifteen are unfortunate in being unable to field their very best side against Royal Navy, who, with one exception, will probably be fielding their strongest fifteen of this season.

Malaya have made several changes owing to injury and both Dougal Harper, their skipper and full-back and G. D. Lundon, their outstanding wing-threequarter, will be conspicuous by their ab- sence. Harper injured his knee last Saturday against the Club and is a doubtful starter for next Saturday, while Lundon's torn leg muscle will most probably keep him out of the remaining matches, which is hard luck indeed.

FATHER TRAVELS

1,500 MILES TO SEE SON PLAY RUGBY

of

Mr. Bourne, father P. W. Bourne, who is play- ing for the MRU. fifteen this afternoon against Royal Navy on the Club ground, has travel- led all the way from Peiping to see his son play against the Colony, a distance of over 1,500 miles. He was seen on the Club afternoon ground yesterday watching the Malayan fifteen at practice.

J. L. B. Hardwicke, one of This Afternoon's Teams

the outstanding halves in Malaya, will be seen at full- back to-day.

A strong kicker and fairly sound tackle, he should be useful. It is in the threequarter line where Malaya will probably feel the pinch, for Procter has been taken out of the pack to fill Lundon's vacancy on the left-wing. Although by no means slow, he is not quite as fast as Lundon, although a great oppor- tunist, as witness his two splendid efforts last Saturday against Club.

New Centre

Lt. J. E. P. Pierce makes his first appearance at right-centre three- quarter and his performance will be watched with interest as he is re- puted to be fairly fast.

Malaya have made two changes in their pack, MacLennan being the hooker for to-day, while Mackenzie,

STRONG ASSN. HOCKEY TEAM TO ENCOUNTER INTERPORTERS

Colony's Interport Soccer XI Selected

Very Strong Forward Combination

F. FOWLER SECURES FIRST "CAP"

(By "REFEREE”)

A very strong team has been selected to represent the Colony in the Interport Football match with Manila on Sunday, February 19, on the Navy ground, Lee Wai- tong, the Colony's finest forward, leading the attack, while F. Fowler, Club's best forward, will be making his first Interport ap- pearance on the right-wing.

Sheehan's selection left-back in partnership with Lee Tin-sang- comes as no surprise in view of his fine performances recently, and in particular his Lai Wah Cup display against the Civilians, when he out- shone Watson, who was one of the finest backs in the Colony prior to his departure for England.

The Colony's attack is a very strong one and reads:

F. Fowler, Fung King-cheong, Lee Wai-tong, A. V. Gosano and Hau Ching-to.

All five of these players are dead- ly marksmen.
