CHARITY STAMPS
THE spirit of Charity, especially
charity for children, pervades the whole world through the month of December with only the most hardened Scroogea holding out against it. December, then, is an appropriate and paychological time for the issue of charity stamp sets and each year at this time we find a large number of these semi-postals offered to the public, especially by European nations.
The annual "Voor het Kind" (For the children) issue from the Nether- lands consists of five values this year. The uniform design is of a small boy playing a flute. He is surrounded by flowers, while a dove and fish approach him, apparently to listen to his song. Colours and values are: 11 cent plus 1c black- brown; Se plus 2e purple; 4c plus 2c green; 5c plus 3c red-brown; and 12c plus 8 blue.

The first design is vertically arranged while the second is in horizontal format. Huge ice- bergs appear in the background for both varieties. The geographic de- signation is "Gronland”,
