FIVE FIFE TEAMS DRAWN AT HOME Four First Division Sides

Will Clash In

Scottish Cup 1st Round

(By AIR MAIL)

As is often the case in the Scottish Cup first round, before the non-League clubs are disposed of, the majority of the ties are un- attractive. However, there are four ties between First Division clubs, five between First and Second Division clubs, and five between Second Division clubs for Saturday.

!

There is a certainty of three non-League clubs entering the second round. One of these will be the winners of the Nithsdale Wanderers-Buckie Thistle tie, for which the Northern club will make the longest journey of the round-to Sanquhar.

Fife is fortunate in having the best ties of the round. All their five representatives have been

TIES IN EDINBURGH

Edinburgh's fortunes are mixed. Hibernians have to travel to Forfar, where they scored seven goals in a Cup-tie several seasons ago, a fac- tor being that the Hibernian play- ers wore canvas boots on a snow- bound ground. St Bernards have to go to Dundee, but are by no means without a chance of com- mencing another Cup run.

Hearts are at home to the South- ern Qualifying Cup winners, Peni- cuik Athletic, who have given a good account of themselves in the major competition before now. Leith Athletic entertain Airdrieoni- ans, who inflicted upon the dowbank team their heaviest gue defeat this season.
