JAPANESE PLAN TO PROHIBIT IMPORTS

Regarding reports that the Japanese authorities intend shortly to impose import prohi- bitions especially in North China,

Customs authorities. state that officially they have no in- formation and that no definite ban has been imposed, so far. .but they add that they are aware that import restrictions are to be tightened up considerably in the near future.

From reliable quarters, it is learned that a list of 92 articles, the import of which is to be pro- hibited into North China has several been in existence for months but that so far this list has not been issued and has not been applied, the opportune mo- ment apparently having not yet arrived.

Speaking generally, foreign importers must be prepared for the likelihood of considerable re- strictions on the import business being announced in the near fu- ture. Trans-Ocean.
