Seafarers' Service At Cathedral

Golf

The annual Seafarers' Service was held at St. John's Cathedral last Sunday. Here are men of the Royal Navy leaving after the Service.

CABBAGES AND KINGS

An enthusiastic golfer came home to dinner. During the meal his wife said, "Willie tells me he caddied for you this afternoon.” "Well, do you know," said Willie's father, 'I thought I'd seen that boy before."

The Explanation

Chief-Do you believe in life after death?

Office Boy-Yes, sir. Chief-Then everything is in order. After you had gone off for the afternoon yesterday to bury your grandfather he came in here to see you.

Keep Calm

A hare, started at a peeress's dinner party, passed through Whitehall last night with snow on its boots,

It was eventually jugged by a constable in Parliament Square. Another powerful rumour to-

morrow.

The Baroness Blinka was very interested in an eminent writer's description of Mr. Hore-Belisha, during the last few days, as look- ing flushed but determined."

She wonders if this means that Mr. Hore-Belisha has been practi- sing Mr. Malcolm MacDonald's famous feat of walking on', his hands.

Tysch Tyighs and Táîh are ear- ly versions of the place name Tygh, according to the research information obtained by the WPA writiers project while compiling data for the Oregon Guide of the American - Guide travel book series. Captain John H. Fremont referred to that section now known as Tygh valley as Taih

Praireie. However early maps give a preference to the first two forms of spelling. It was sometime after 1875 that the name was shortened to Tygh.

The word was originally the name of an Indian tribe said to have lived in or near the Tygh valley section.

"Portland Oregonian."
