The annual Seafarers' Service was held at St. John's Cathedral last Sunday. Here are men of the Royal Navy leaving after the Service.

Captain John H. Fremont referred to that section now known as Tygh valley as Taih
Praireie. However early maps give a preference to the first two forms of spelling. It was sometime after 1875 that the name was shortened to Tygh.
The word was originally the name of an Indian tribe said to have lived in or near the Tygh valley section.
