Chinese military circles expect that the Japanese will concentrate their efforts on Hunan pro- vince in order to obtain complete control of the Hankow-Canton Railway. It is believed that the Japanese will advance from Canton on Hankow and in the opposite direction from Hankow to Canton with the important junction Changsha as main objective although no troop movements indicating such a plan have yet been reported.
It was announced that the Emer- gency Refugee Council had already undertaken social service work at the camp at Kam Tin and Father Ryan Chiaokow, five miles from Hankow, made an appeal that the individual So- cial Service organisations constituting
