This statement was made in the House of Commons yesterday by the Under-Secretary for Foreign- affairs, Mr. R. A. Butler, in reply to Mr. David Adams (Labour, Consett), who put a question in regard to the latest recommendations of House of Con Geneva in favour of supporting China.

Mr. Butler said the Government accepted the position as set forth

in the Report and Resolution be- fore the Council of the League.

They had done their best to fulfil |their obligations under the resolu- tions adopted by the Assembly and the Council, and they would con- tinue to give sympathetic considera- tion to requests from the Chinese Government in conformity with those resolutions

BRITISH TRADE LOSSES The serious setback to certain British exports to the Far East, was admitted in the House.

At question time, Major H. A. Procter (Conservative, Accrington) asked the effect of hostilities in the Far East on the export of British textiles, and whether steps could be taken to reduce the serious prejudice to international caused by those hostilities.
