GEN. CHIANG'S APPEAL TO YOUTH

Hankow, Yesterday.

A lengthy statement enjoining China's youth to join the "Three Peoples' Principles Youth Regi- ment", which is now under forma- tion, has been issued by Generalis- simo Chiang Kai-shek, commander of the organisation.

The purpose for the organisation of such a body, according to the Generalissimo, is threefold, name- ly, (1) to realise success of nation- reconstruction, al resistance and

(2) to centralise a new revolution- ary force for the Chinese nation, and (3) to accomplish the early materialisation of

"Three the Peoples' Principles."

The statement emphasised the of the need for strict discipline youth of China and the cultivation of the spirit of independence so that they may become truly patriotic modern Chinese citizens.

In order to reach the goal out- lined, Chinese youth is asked to un- dertake the following duties;

(1) to participate actively in the war-time mobilisation move- ment;

(2) to receive military training; (3) to receive political training; (4) to promote cultural recon- struction of the country;

(5) to encourage labour services;

and

(6) to cultivate technical know-

ledge.

Chinese youths are urged cultivate the virtues of orderliness, cleanliness, simplicity, speed and accuracy.

Concluding, the statement ex- presses the hope that by forming such a regiment, China's youth will unite to lay the foundation of a new China and to find the way out for the Chinese hation in the pres sent crisis. Central News.
