During April, it was disclosed, less than 611 cases were dealt with, 223 the Society's inspectors making visits to homes. At the various cen- were tres maintained, 3,070 visits made by persons seeking advice treat- ment or help for their children. The average income per head of the cases on relief was $1.53 per month.

The honorary treasurer, Mr. A. McKellar reported that the cash balan- ce amounted to $7,000, including the annual Government grant of $5,000 just received. The Society's urgent need for funds was stressed, it being pointed out that in order to continue work on the present scale, a further $9,000 will be needed in order to meet #prospective expenditure up to the close
