KOWLOON OUT FOR SHIELD SUCCESS

STRUGGLE FOR 2ND DIV. SUPREMACY

Middlesex And 5th A.A. Bde.

CLUB JUNIORS HAVE

BIG TASK

The struggle for the Second Division League football Cham- pionship has now narrowed down to two teams, the Middlesex and the 5th. A. A. Brigade, Royal Artillery, who are on level terms, while the Seaforths, Kwong Wah and South China, who until fortnight ago, were also in challenging position, have now been left behind and it is very doubtful if any of them ·will again offer a challenge.

The Middlesex will meet the Royal Engineers and should the latter field their best team, they should be able to fully extend the Middlesex, as they will still have their best players available.

They will be strengthened by the inclusion of Low, who gave a credi- table display last week against the Royal Navy, in the Junior Shield re- play.

DISAPPOINTED!

The 5th A.A. Bde. must be one of the most disappointed teams in the Second Division as they have turn- ed up to fulfil their fixtures on se- veral occasions only to find the op posing team absent. Last Tuesday they were down to meet the Sappers, but the latter did not turn up though their

reserves did. Should the points of this game be awarded

The Club registered one of the biggest victories in the Second Di- vision this season when they troun-. ced Eastern to the tune of 10 goals to nil last week, and this afternoon they will be up against a tough pro position in the 5th A.A. Bde. R.A.

The Gunners have a well balanced team with Calvert, who will be seen in action in the Association to-morrow, as the main menace in their forward line, while in the de- fence Lawton and Winstanley good.

The Kwong Wah-South China game should be interesting but both have only a remote chance of finish- ing near the top, and as a result the game has an important bearing. As both these

TO-DAY THE SAINTS WILL BE FIELDING A VERY MUCH : WEAKER TEAM THAN THAT OF THE PREVIOUS OCCASION, AS THEY WILL BE WITHOUT THE SERVICES OF PICKERING, AT FULL-BACK, AND CONNOR, IN GOAL, AND IT WAS THESE TWO PLAYERS WHO SAVED THE SAINTS FROM A CRUSHING DEFEAT.

Kowloon can consider themselves lucky, however, as Rowlands, their goalkeeper, and Evans, their left-half, will most probably be making their last appearances in the Colony to-day before they leave by the troopship for Home, and their inclusion will undoubtedly strengthen the side.

D. Knox, following an injury in the Governor's Cup match, which kept him out of local soc- cer last week, will make a reap-| pearance in the centre-forward berth, while V. White, who was injured against the Middlesex last week, will be an absentee,

and his place will be filled by Evans, who moves up from the
