CHIEF JUSTICE'S COMMENTS

"There are some things which are better said publicly from this Bench than anywhere else," said the Chief Justice, "and I think I am justified in saying what I have said."

His Lordship commented on the Funnecessary delay of one month for which the accused had been kept waiting for his trial.

"The Ordinance," he continued, "provides that unless cases are committed by the 10th of the month, they will not come up for trial on that month. It imposes on those responsible the duty of see- ing that all cases are dispensed with without delay.”

In summing up the case the Chief Justice warned the jury of the unescapable danger of con-

The jury retired and returned verdict of not guilty.
