London, December 16. Mr. Robert Sweeny, Jun., Ameri- can holder of the British Amateur Golf championship, is applying for naturalisation as a British subject. The Earl of Dudley and Mr. Philip E. Hill, the financier, of whose firm Mr. Sweeny is a member,

Mr. Sweeny, who is 26, was born in California, but. has lived in London for some years. He was 'A -- member of the Oxford University golf team of 1982, his brother, Charles, being captain. The change of nationality will make Mr.. Sweeny eligible to play for Great Britain against America in next. year's Walker Cup match at St. Andrews.
