TEN DYSENTERY TEN DYSENTERY DEATHS

GRAVE ATMOSPHERE

Jerusalem, To-day.

Tension between Jews and Arabs in Palestine has reached a point reminiscent of the blackest days of 1936.

Bombs could be heard exploding in Jerusalem and Jaffa all night, although the amount of damage and casualties in outlying sections has not yet been determined.

Jerusalem has assumed the as pect of a beleaguered town, with armoured cars patrolling the de serted streets and military pa- trols with rifles at the ready.

The first military courts will sit on Thursday, and in case death sentences are passed, it is feared that de- monstrations wil lead to fur- ther trouble.

Such an interpretation is not dis- credited in some well-informed cir- cles in Jerusalem.

It may be hoped that with the coming into force of the new regu- lation, all sections of the popula- tion will remember that the sup- pression of disorder is the func tion of the authorities.
