JAPANESE PLANES AT BOCCA TIGRIS

TENSION HIGH WITH RAIDS EXPECTED

Canton, To-day. Following the alarm early this morning of a Japanese air raid, and the consequent subsiding of the panic which broke out in the Chinese city, a state of tension has again risen almost to breaking point following official announcement by the Canton air force au- thorities that four Jap-- anese planes flew over the Bocca Tigris forts this morning.

The planes circled over the forts- for a short while and two squa drons of Canton Government planes were sent up.

While one squadron remained over Canton itself in order to in- tercept any swift raid on the city, the other squadron was despatch- ed to the forts.
