CHINESE R.C. SHOULD SENIOR LEAGUE

COMFORTABLE VICTORY

AGAINST RECREIO HUNG, A. V. REMEDIOS AND J. GONSALVES SHINE

(By "ADREM")

FTER their performance yesterday, I have no hesitation whatever in tipping the Chinese Recreation Club to win the "A" Division Lawn Ten- nis League championship.

DESPITE THE FACT THAT THEY HAD A CONSIDER- ABLE ADVANTAGE, IN PLAYING ON THEIR OWN COURTS, THEIR SUPERIOR · BALANCE AND GENERALLY HIGHER STANDARD PROVED MUCH TOO GOOD FOR THEIR VISITORS FROM KING'S PARK AND THEY BEAT CLUB DE RECREIQ BY SIX SETS TO THREE AFTER BEING TWO SETS UP AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE SECOND ROUND.

Outstanding for the winners were W. C. Hung and Iu Tak- cheuk who were not checked. They staged a remarkable come- backs against A. V. Remedios and John Gonsalves when after be- ing led by three games to love, they rallied splendidly to win the next six games in succession.

I was exceedingly disappoint- ed with Recreio's performance. A. V. Remedios and J. Gonsalves were the only pair that ever look- ed convincing. While being pre- pared to make allowances for the difficult playing conditions— the light at Causeway Bay is al- ways a big problem for a visiting ner who never inspired one with cons side I nevertheless felt that the second and third strings should have, given very much better dis- plays than they did.

fidence, was his usual thoughtful self and it was mainly due to his steadying influence on Iu that they were able to emerge from the en- counter with an unbeaten record.

I am inclined to think, however, that a little more concentration when in winning posi- tions would not come amiss and they should, in future games, watch this inclination to underrate opponents.
