United States coastguard cutters cruising in the vicinity of Howland Island, have hitherto fail- ed to find any trace of Miss Amelia Earhart's plane. Meanwhile the United States Navy is mobilis- ing aid as speedily as possible.
The U.S. battleship Colorado left Honolulu yesterday afternoon for Howland Island, where she is expected on Tuesday evening.

connoitred ahead of the vessel but met with storms and was forced to return to Honolulu.
The aircraft carrier Lexington, with 54 planes on board, left San Diego on Saturday night for How- land Island, accompanied by four destroyers.
