London, February 25. Sir William Parker Burton was yesterday elected president of the Yacht Racing Association, at the general meeting of that body. This position was last held by the Duke of Windsor when Prince of Wales.

Senior vice-president since the retirement of Sir Philip Hunloke, in August, 1935, Sir William has been a member of the YRA for 42 years, and has been 38 years a member of Council He is 12 Proposing the election, Dr T. C. Jackson, Commodore of the Royal Yorkshire Yacht Club, said the Council had that morn- ing expressed the unanimous ↑ opinion that they should have as their president a yachtsman of the greatest experience and- none other than Sir William- Burton. He was known to Bri- tish yachtsmen as their leader, and throughout the world as chairman of the International Yacht Racing Union

Mr. Hugh Paul (Royal Harwich Yacht Club) seconded the proposal, and Mr. T. O. M. Sopwith spoke warmly in support. The vote was carried by acclamation.
