The fact that America, like our- selves, are anxiously looking round

for a second singles player to sup- port Donald Budge in their com- ing challenge for the Cup may sup- ply one of these timely kicks.

I can quite imagine the Ameri- cans studying their new ranking list to find a No.-2 player to Budge been just as closely as we have studying our list to find support for H. W. Austin.

NOT FORMIDABLE The American ranking list does not seem a very formidable one. Apart from Budge there is only one man in the first four who has pre- viously visited this country, and that is Bitsey Grant.

Sixto Escobar, above, retained his world bantamweight boxing championship on Sunday night when he outpointed Lou Sales, the former holder, in a 15 round bout at Porto Rico.
