FAILED TO SEE

West Brom. Sign Man Under Villa's Nose

London, October 10.-There is a rather interesting story behind the appearance - to-day in the West Bromwich Albion first team against Grimsby of James Prew, a slightly built right-winger from Hinckley.

Aston Villa had Prew on their office staff, realised his promise, and offered him a trial, but not an engagement. The Albion, prepar led to take a chance, jumped in the next morning and signed Prew.up. Even so, they got in only five minutes before a Sunderland re- presentative arrived
