HE All-China World Olympic football team of 18 players, who re- cently went North to Shanghai and Peiping on a short tour before commencing their journey to the Berlin Games, arrived in the Colony this morning by the French mail liner s.s. Aramis, when they were met by a large gathering of supporters, Wong Ki-leung (goal- keeper), Mak Shui-hon (full-back) and Tsui Ah-fai (centre-half), who did not make the trip, and Mr. Wong Ka-tsun, General Secretary of the South China Athletic Association, whose appointment as manager of the tourists has just been confirmed.

Contrary to earlier plans, Tsui Ah-fai, who is a graduate of the Canton Air Force. will not be remaining behind until the full China complement leave in June, but accompani ed the footballers sailing to-day at 1 p.m. Likewise, Wong Ki-leung and Mak Shui-hon together with Mr. Wong Ka-tsun, sailed to-day with the team. The one remaining mem- ber of the complement, Chua Boon-lay, of Malaya, will join the team at Singapore following the Java tour.

His many friends in Hong Kong will be pleased to hear of Mr. Wong Ka-tsun's ap- could pointment as manager and head of the All-China football team, and no better man possibly have been found for the task Although he only played soccer while a boy Mr. Wong has held the post of General Secretary of the South China Athletic Association on and off since 1924 and is undoubtedly the only man for the job.

TENNIS TOURNEY AT RECREIO

Two Games Decided

Although a number of matches! in the Club de Recreio annual ten- nis tournament were scheduled to be played off yesterday, which, in- cidentally was the opening day. only two games wèře decided, bath of them being in the First Round of the Men's Singles Handicap. The results were as follows:-

Lee Wai-tong. China's soccer idol. whose appointment as captain of the All-China World Olympic Football team has been confirmed, returned to thể Colony this morning with 17 other members of the team, who were accompanied by Dr. C. C. Yung, General Manager and leader of the delegation, and Mr. Ngan Shing-gwan, the team coach, whose appoint ment has also been confirmed by the National Federation at Nanking. All the players look- ed very fit and were all wearing blazers with the Berlin World Olympic crest.

Interviewed, Dr. Yung said that the main object of their Northern tour was not to win games, but to show the Chinese public in Shang-: hai and Nanking what players. were being sent to represent the country at the Berlin Games.

He defended Lee. Wai-tong against the adverse criticism of him by the Shanghai newspapers, many of whom quoted him as be- ing "disappointing because he failed to score any goals.”
