THE Lawn Bowls season certainly began under a cloud last Saturday, only half the matches being played! The heavy shower just before 11 a.m. caused several matches to be cancelled, which was most unfortunate so early in the sea- son. There does not appear to be any ruling or precedent as to what time a match may be can-

celled by the home team, and it is not unusual

I understand that this happened last year. A team was in- formed at 2.50 p.m.. by a reliable member of a club that the match was on, but on arrival at the ground were informed that a higher authority had cancelled the match! It seems unfortunate that there is no time limit for making a decision, and I make the sug- gestion that the H.K.L.BA. notify clubs that a decision must be definitely reached by 1.30 p.m.
