LEAGUE CARD OPENS UNDER CLOUD

K.C.C.'S UNACCOUNTABLE COLLAPSE

JUNIOR CHAMPIONS OUTPLAYED

(By "Skip")

THE Lawn Bowls season certainly began under a cloud last Saturday, only half the matches being played! The heavy shower just before 11 a.m. caused several matches to be cancelled, which was most unfortunate so early in the sea- son. There does not appear to be any ruling or precedent as to what time a match may be can-

celled by the home team, and it is not unusual

for a tearn to travel on a useless journey.

I understand that this happened last year. A team was in- formed at 2.50 p.m.. by a reliable member of a club that the match was on, but on arrival at the ground were informed that a higher authority had cancelled the match! It seems unfortunate that there is no time limit for making a decision, and I make the sug- gestion that the H.K.L.BA. notify clubs that a decision must be definitely reached by 1.30 p.m.

R. P. Phillips, above, was the only successful skip in the K.C.G. team when they lost to Craigen- gower "A" last Saturday in the Lawn Bowls League programme.

There was a very Tanction at the Hong Kong Football Club yesterday evening when Mr. S. H. Strange, former captain and present left-bark of the Club's premier soccer teamO, and also an Interporter, was the recipient of a silver cigarette box from the Committee and Members on the occasion of his marriage to Miss Eileen Eardley, of Shanghai, which will take place this afternoon at St. Joseph's Church, Garden Road.
