NEW IDEAS FOR BOUQUETS

Posy Showers And Sheaves

MUCH INFLUENCED BY FASHIONS

Bouquets for brides are --VERT much influenced to-day · by fashion. The old type bouquet which smothered the wedding dress, and over which the bride's face could just be seen, has “hap- pily been succeeded by new de- signs which serve to show off the beauty of the flowers themselves in such a way that their arrange. ment gets them off without giving

a "massed" impression..

The former shows gardenias and lilies of the valley arranged in a large and loosely set Victorian posy, with tapering lace-like blos- soms of the lilies falling like foral diamonds from the whiteness of the posy's centre. White tulle sofetly frilled makes a frame for the whole, and a filmy background for the pendant-flower "drops.”.

NATIONAL COLOUR FAVOURED

New York society women seen. lanching in smart restaurants these days use less makeup and more natural looking nail polish |than they did a season agu. Cheeks are, pink, to be sure, but they don't look too gred and painted. Nails are beautifully manicured and, in most instances, covered with pale red or 'shell pink polish instead of weird shades of orange and deep scarlet.

One tall, dignified luncheon guest on the Starlight Boof at the Waldorf-Astoria wore shell pink polish with an iridescent finish. The effect can be achieved by put- ting on a coat of pink and cover- ing it with a thin coat of quite colourless mother-of-pearl. The subtle

her combination made handa look pale and graceful.
