A graphic account of how the typhoon, which recently de- vastated southern Japan, had delayed the new Norddeuts- cher Lloyd liner. Potsdam was told by the Captain on the ar- rival of the liner in Hong Kong this morning, on her maiden voyage west.

The Potsdam left Kobe on Au- gust 27. On being informed that there was a typhoon in the vicin lity, the captain headed his ship due south in the hope of missing lit.. The typhoon changed its course, however, and the Potsdam was caught on the outskirts. The seas became mountainous, and the vessel could only proceed at ja very slow speed.
