WIMMING a brilliantly judged race, Wilfred Lawrence, of the Victoria Recreation Club, yesterday evening shattered the 880 Yards Free Style Colony mark when he beat Lionel Roza- Pereira, the 1933 holder, by about 12 yards to clip 7 3-5 seconds off his own record of last year!

Miss Yeung Sâu-king, of South China, the Chins National swimming champion, proved too good for the other ladies in the 100 Yards championship and won by several yards from Miss R. Thirwell who caused a minor sensation by displacing Miss Doris Hant, of the VRC in the last three yards.

The holder, Mrs. L. Mead. arrived back in Hong Kong yesterday from the North. She was supposed to have defend- ed her title, but was a day too late, as the heats were held on Wednesday evening.
