SENORITA LIZANA FULLY EXTENDED

MISS CUNNINGHAM GIVES EXCELLENT DISPLAY SOUTH AFRICAN TENNIS ACES

PLEASE CRITICS

(By A. WALLIS MYERS)

Bournemouth, April 30, THE Hard Court Championships opened on one of April's few inviting days a clear sky and warm sunshine. It may have been fancy, but I thought the courts were playing slower than last year-all except the two new match courts, the construction of which has relieved the pressure of the public and distributed more spectators over the ground.

If the board recorded no sensational result and no player nominated to compete on the last two days met with disaster, the tide of battle did not always flow without providing an exciting spray.

Neither H. W. Austin nor Senorita Lizana-two of the first to appear on the Centre Court-held undisputed sway, and both had to subjugate tenacious opponents.
