ing fabrics. Shirrings or a sash with butterfly bow in back ensure a slender hipline. The back de- collette in this style is deep, open nearly to the waist. However high the velvet bow or flower under the chin, the back is in- variably deep cut in contrast.

For dressy afternoon wear the long skirt a still favoured-In- step or ankle length being equally elegant. Flowery, frilly organdic jabots jutting out under the chin are a typical detail of the now mode. But sleeves are now us important as necklines for day wear; some are large, flattened sleeves, three-quarter length, re- vealing the frilly wrist of a blouse beneath. In crisp organdle blouses one model has a round 'scalloped collar, turned-back seal- loped cuffs and a butterfly jubet of plain fabric. Let your ribbons match your shoes in evening and in the day. Taffeta ribbon bows are gaily designed and popular as evening gown accessories. One especially lovely ribbon has a contrasting edge made of fringe that has been woven into the material- white taffeta, perhaps, with red and

blue fringe. In the newer ribbons cellulose film is popular. Sometimes this material has de- corative squares of angelskin inter- woven. For evenings, too, small ribbons are tied round the wrist, making charming bracelets in the Victorian manner. For the day, ribbons form belts, pleated or loopeil collars, hatbands, and pert bows for shoes and gloves.
