BOWLS LEADERS VISIT CIVIL SERVICE IN LEAGUE TO MORROW
Sidelights on the League
W. Macfarlane showed brilliant forma last Saturday when playing in Adam Holland's rink. It was largely due to
him that the Bowling Green beat the champions. On the 8th end, at which period Holland's four were 5-3 in the lead he carried the jack with a perfect
shot to allow his skip to score a one.

The bowler land's quartette who beat R. Bass may either stand squarely on the four by 15 shots to nullify narrow de-mat, directly facing the Jack-the Teata on the two other inks and thus; give the Bowling Green a 3 shots win quare position, or turn to face the over Craigengower.
'L GUY'S FIRST DEFEAT.
B. W. Bradbury was again. in the limelight on Saturday, Down 21-12 after 17 ends he played brilliant bowls to carry his four to a one shot victory. On the 3rd. end with his woods lying badly, he sent his shot through a very narrow channel to record a 2, there being a dead measure for the third. On the 9th Guy's rink were lying six, but Bradbury sent down a glorious shot to draw one. Guy, however, played an even better shot to make the score six, again. This was Guy's first defest.

OMAR'S INSPIRED BOWLING.
The brilliance of U. M. Omar, the
line that his wood will take-the oblique position.
When playing on dult greens, where bias is at a minimum, the square posl. tion may suffice, bul on fast and fiery greens the oblique position is pretty nearly essential, if one hopes to keep down the score of nar- row woods to a respectable limit.
With this position, which I would strongly recommend for every pur- pose, there is less likelihood of nar- row woods on the backhand, and better estimate of land can be ub. tained.
The three recognised stances are well-known Colony Interporter and the upright, crouching, and kneeling former champion, robbed H. Nish of | stances.
