The thrilling late af the rescue of 31 Japanese seamen from the battered bulk at the fishing trawler Shea Shan Maru 150 miles from Pratas Shoal, was related by officers of the British steamship Glenshield, Capt. R. L. Sanders com- manding, which arrived in Hong Kong at 9 p.m. on October 31, more than 24 hours overdue.
The Japanese craft, sighted in'a sinking condition, had lost her mast and rudder, was out of fuel and stores; and her crew were almost exhausted by their ceaseless battle with the sea, which had busted for three days.

Before the Hong Kong Divorce Bill was given second reading at the session of the Legislative Council on October 27, Hon. Mr. J. P. Braga, declaring that he represented a
·large proportion of the residents of the Colony, launched -an attack upon the measure from moral and practical angles. Hon. Mr. J. J. Patterson, replying to Mr. Braga's criti- cism, said that so far as he could understand, the, Divorce ̈· Bill did no more than transplant the English procedure to Hong Kong.
The Attorney-General, briefly explained the Bill. The Government, he said, was not concerned with the religious aspects of the case. The Hong Kong Bill followed the pro- cedure adopted in the Fefferal Malay States, but did not go so far.
The Bill, he added, would not come into force until His

A wedding of great social interest to the Colony, was solemnised in St. John's Cathedral on October 31, when Miss Enid 'Ida Elliot-Heywood, only daughter of Captain C. E. Elliot-Heywood, R.A.P.C. and Mrs. Elliot-Heywood," of Kowloon, became the bride of Captain Francis William Webb, Royal Artillery, only son of Lieut.-Col. and Mrs. A. H. Webb, of Sevenoaks, Kent, and A.D.C. to His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government (the Hon. Mr. W. T. Southorn, C.M.G:). The ceremony was performed by the Very Rev. A. Swann, M.A., D.S.C., Dean of Hong Kong, assisted by the Rev. Walton Rogers, M.A., Vicar of St. Andrew's Church, Kowloon.

Colony Boxing Season Opening on Nov. 19
Anglo-American Tournament
The Hong Kong Boxing Association are hoping to open their season on Saturday, November 19, the tenure for the bouts being the Lee Theatre, Wanchai. Nothing definite has been arranged as yet, but the local Boxing Association are hoping to fix up an Anglo- American boxing tournament, as the U.S. Fleet will then be in port.
