CAPT. W. A. DAWSON,

Captain W. A. Dawson, formerly of the Blue Funnel Line, died with tragic suddenness at Home recently. Captain Dawson was on his way home just before midnight, and had almost reached the gateway leading to his house in Thornton Road, Prenton, (near Birkenhead), when he collapsed and fell on the pave- ment.

He was taken to his home, but hel was found to be dead when examined by a doctor.

One of the best-known officers in the Blue Funnel Line, Captain Daw- son was in command of the steam- ship Hector about three years ago, when he had an attack of angina pectoria, and shortly after returning to Britain retired from the service of Mesara. Alfred Holt and Company, the owners of the Blue Funnel Line.. Subsequently he became a chart corrector in Liverpool. He leaves a widow.
