Ile plans to rid himself of the factory, hand and decides to drown her. They go boating on a lake. Here he is afraid to carry out his plan and confesses' to the girl his intention and tells her if she would keep away. from him he would take ker back ashore. Foolishly she approaches him, stumbles, and the best capsizes. They both fall into the water, and the boy allows her to drown,
Most of the picture after this is taken up by a gripping murder trial, in which passions run high that the attorneys concerned almost come to blows in the Court. The boy is found guilty. and in the condemne cell he confesses to his mother that while he did not murder the girl he could have saved her after the accident, but neglected to do so because he wanted her to be out of the way. It is really good entertainment with a moral, but the only thing that marred the picture, from a British point of view was the scene between the two attorneys in Court, when they so far forgat themselves as to take oft their coats to fight! It is too highly dramatie and not in keeping with the dignity of any Court.

"HOLIDAY."
The courage that marked Mary Astor's determination to graduate from "sweet young thing" roles to more sophisticated characterisa- tions was rewarded by her selection for one of the mentieat film plums of the season, when Miss Astor was chosen for the role of "Julie" in "Holiday," the Philip Barry stage success brought to the screen by Pathe under the direction of Ed- ward H. Griffith. This role is one demanding great versatility and adroitness, combining as it does many fine characteristics with several extremely unlovely traits.
Ann Harding plays the featured lend in "Holiday, which is show- ing at Central Theatre To-day. Robert Ames has the leading man's role. Others filling important
