PASSENGER LISTS,
ARRIVALS.'
The following passengers arrived by the Empress of Canada on August 12:~~~
JAPAN IN 17- DAYS.
Record of Empress of Britain.
One of the facts of the entry of the Empress of Britain Into the Atlantic service which is not yet Bufficiently realised Is that this new liner brings Japan
within seven- teen days of London by the Cana- dian Pacific, trans-Atlantic, trans- Canada and trans-Pacific route.
This is due to the wonderful co- ordination of ship and train ser- vices organised by the C.P.R., and the records recently_made_by_the Empress of Japan play naturally a very important part in this new development. It was just eight months ago that the Empress of Japan set up the record of 7 days 20 minutes between Vancouver and Yokohama. The Empress of Bri- tuln will also bring New Zealand within 27 days of London by join- ing up on the Pacific with the 25,000 ton Aorangi, of the Union Steam ship_Company_of_New-Zealand.-
