A Newspaper Holder For The- Kitchen.
We have made a very nice, useful newspaper case for the Hut kitchen, and I am sure the Wendy girls would like to copy it as presents for their mothers. The case is intended to hang on the kitchen door, to keep all old newspapers tidy and ready-to- hand when they are wanted to spread over the table or on the floor in front of the stove when cooking is going on.
You will want a piece of hes- sian, 18 inches wide and -24 inches deep, for the outside of the case; and a plece of orange or green casement cloth, the same You will size, for the lining. nlag need two canes about 23

Toby was watching the const- 'guard. It was a fine light even- ing; there was no sign of rain, not a ship to be seen, so the coast guard toddled away to the inn for a mug of ale.
"Half an hour to get there, and half an hour back," chuckled Toby. "We can work by day- light!"
"One day I shall be a rich nian," he thought, "I shall be chief of the smugglers. Then I shall become the Mayor of the town, and wear a gold chain, and build myself a fine house, and turn the which blind eye on smugglers will be a great help to them."

THE CITY OF CYCLES.
-People seldom walk in Copen- hagen, the capital of Denmark, but they do not travel by omni- bus, tram or motor-car any more than we do here.
The Danes are perhaps the keenest cyclists in the world. Give them two wheels and a pair of handle-bars, and they are as happy as sandboys, no matter what their age.
It is not safe to walk careless- ly about the City of Copenhagen, for the thousands of cyclists are meadow-rapid riders particularly the

Draw four or five big ovals along this 8 inch space, with smaller circles and ovals between, to represent conven- tional flowers; then fill each one in with buttonhole stitch, in orange and blue, working the stitches as shown in Diagram B. Give the blue flowers orange satin-stitch centres, and the orange flowers blue centres. Work the smaller circles with emerald satin-sitches, and put black chain-sitch "stems” be- hind the flowers, as shown in the picture.
Now sew the lining to the back of the hessian on three sides, turn right side out, and sew up the fourth side. Make a casing along each top edge, and thread a cane through so that the case is firm. Cut the wool tape in halves, and sew the pieces to the ends of the canes to form handles the door. by which the case is hung against
