SILK SMUGGLING.
Cargo Coolies' Ruse Detected.
Cargo coolles with yards of silk. hidden around their walets and in their turbans were arrested by the police as they attempted to leave the B.I. steamer Morvada, in Colombo harbour, after they had broached case of silk, says The Times of Ceylon.
Acting on information bbtained that a case of silk in No. 3 hold of the Morvada had been opened the Harbour Police placed two con- stables, one aft and the other fore, of the ship, to keep a look-out for any cooling warking on board, who made an attempt to smuggle silk ashore.
