SHIPBUILDING ORDER.

Messrs. Hawthorn, Leslie, and Co., Ltd., have received notification from the Portuguese Government that they are to receive an order for the hulls and machinery of two armed sloops. The contract has been booked in face of keen com petition, particularly from Italian shipbuilders. Last year Hawthorn and Leslie's built some five sloops for the British Admiralty.
