Further details of the sinking of HM. submarine Poseidon off Wei-hai-wei on Tuesday, when she was rammed by the Chinese steainer Yuta, are now available through the medium of an official Naval Wireless message issued this morning. The text of the message is as follows:-
H.M.S. Poseidon was sunk whilst operating on the surface in full buoyancy. Poseidon was off starboard bow of Yuta, and turning to port with Yuta on her starboard bow, when Yuta ported her helm and hit Poseidon at right angles. The speed of Yuta was about ten knots. The Captain of Yuta states that he arrived on the bridge and went full speed astern 15 seconds
