The death has occurred in Lon- don of the well-known missionary and author, Mr. Donald MacGilliv- ray, who until lately resided in Shanghai-Reuter.

[Mr. MacGillivray was born in Bruce County, Ontario, Canada, in 1962, and was educated at Toronto University where he graduated with a gold medal in Classics and won many scolarships and prizes. He obtained his Master of Arts de free in 1884, later he was sent to Honan on Christian pioneer work. and in 1899 removed to Shanghai Editorial Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Schools, re- sident of the China Sunday School Union, and was decorated by the Chinese Government with the Order of Excellent Crop. He was formerly Examiner in Chinese to the University of Toronto. The of books on author of a number

After Mr. Leo d'Almada, sen.. had given evidence, the Inspector- General of Police described how he went out to Shatin. Mr. Arcull was at the break in the road, and drove him in his car to the cross- Ing. Mr. Arculli, incidentally, did. excellent work, and he (witness) hardly knew what they could have done without him.

Bucharest, Yesterday. Just before the Simplon Orient express was due to pass, 12 yards of rails were found to have been displaced near Slatina, close to the spot where an ex- press was derailed two years ago, with heavy fatalities.
