BOMBSHELL.

Have No Use For Injured Men.

HAWORTH'S INJURY.

Bolton Wanderers have dropped

a bombshell by intimating to Bab Haworth, the popular back and former captain of the League side, that he must either seek a new club or arrange for compensation.

Haworth's leg was broken when playing against Grimsby Town in February, but he has made a good recovery, and was hoping for a chance to prove his fitness. Haworth has stated that he was absolutely floored at the

news.

"It is galling," he added, "to be" treated in this manner after hav- ing given ten years' unsparing service to the club."

Haworth is one of the few play- ers who possess three Cup win- ners' medals. He took part in the memorable first final ever staged at Wembley Stadium, in 1923, and was a member of the successful Bolton teams of 1926 and 1929.

Until his unfortunate injury, Haworth averaged 35 League ap- pearances each senson.

Doctor's Warning To Wives,

"Every woman who nags her hus- band shortens his life."

So declared Dr. Josiah Oldfield In an address on "Keeping well," which he delivered at the annual meeting of the Lady Margaret Fruitarian Hospital in London.

"The wife," added Dr. Oldfield, "has at the same time taken the first step towards becoming hag- gard, ugly, and old."

He explained that man was built up of thought and food, and the effect of a wife pursuing her hus- band with nagging persistence was to destroy his thought picture of creative power and to replace it by a destructive mentality.

The first maxim was "No temper at the table." Food should always be taken in an atmosphere of peace.
