LAWN BOWLS LEAGUE DERBY CALL
DILEMMA.
A Minor "Sensation"
from Kowloon.
PLAYER'S QUALIFICATION.
[By "Short Hend."]
There has been a mild flutter in Jawn bowls dovecots during the week by the selection of A. M. Holland to play for the K.B.G.C. against the Police in the First Division of the League on Satur-
day.
Holland, it will be recalled. played for the Civil Service Cricket Club against the Police on May 9, being opposed as skip by Johnson who played his rink to a draw.
It has been given out that the urgency of cortain work has pre- vented Holland playing for the Civil Service slace then, but it leaked out on Tuesday night that he would figure in the K.B.G.C. selected team this week-end against the Police. And he has not been picked to play for the Civil Service against the Craigen- gower C.C. to-morrow.
Can he play for the Civil Ser- vice against the Police on May 9 and for the K.BG.C. against the Police on May 307 That is the whole problem.
The League Rule.
The entire matter of qualifica- tion appears to hinge on the League rule governing the regis tration of six players. This rule reads:
"Every Club entering a team in each Division shall register Aix players for its First Division team, none of whom shall be al- lowed to play for its Second
Division team or for any other Club, in either Division of the League in the same season."
If Holland is one of the six re- gistered players for the K.B.G.C. he could not have played for the Civil Service. If-as there is good reason to belleve-he is one of the six registered players for the Civil Service, obviously he cannot play for the K.B.G.C. to-morrow,
The System at Fault.
Apart, of course, from the ques- tion of the foregoing qualification a system that permits players to chop and change once a now sea- Bon has commenced is able to lend itself to abuse and to mili- tate against inter-Club harmony, which should not be countenanced by the League authorities.
Electric Co. v. Tramway.
"A friendly game will be played at North Point to-day, comment- ing at 5.15 p.m., between the Hong Kong Electric R.C. and a team from the Hong Kong Tramways, Ltd.
The following have been select- ed to represent the H.K. Electric:
G. T. Padgett, C. E. Galagan, J. F. Lunney, and W. H. B. Muskott (Skip).

An extraordinary international record is held by Pierre Frieur, who captained the French hockey team recently defeated by 3 goals to 2 by Germany in Paris. This was his 54th match for France, and no French International at any other sport approaches this num. ber of caps.
Friar, who has captained the Fresh team sincs 1923, and has played in every position, is also one of the best all-round sports men France has produced. He is a good cyclist, gymnast, swimmer, and tennis player. He has played Rugby for the reserve team of the Racing Club de France, and has also played some soccer
