TOURIST SERVICE.
COMFORTABLE TRAVEL AT
ECONOMICAL PRICE.
The P. and D. Company an
nounces its decision to convert the steamers Mongolia and Moldavia for the carriage of one class of passengers only. a view to conducting a with monthly "tourist class" service with these vessels in conjunction with the new steamers Strath- naver and Strathaid, which latter vessels will, however, carry first saloon and tourist class passen-
gers.
The Mongolia will be thus converted before she sails on April 17 for Australia, and the Moldavia on her next return to London. It is stated that the conversion is due to recognition by Lord Inchcape of the need to meet the demand for comfortable travel at economical rates. The accommodation is to be of the highest standard, and, it is add, ed, "should prove exceedingly popular with the Australian tra velling public."

Johannesburg, Mar. 19. Second Mate B. Jorgensen, last survivor of the voyage of death made forty years ago by the Guiding Star, that tragic ship which drifted in the East- ern seas with a crew of dend men, has just celebrated his seventy-fifth birthday.
To-day he told the story of one of the most remarkable ad- ventures of thetsen ever record- ed.

The statistics for 1930 are not yet available, but from the data to hand in December it is clear that there was no appreciable decrease in orders for Russian account dur- ing the year; in fact, there might be an increase. At According to the December statistics the export of vessels (iron or steel) with engines rose from five units in 1929 to 13 in 1930, the value of the latter being 4.540,000rm., whereas the export of motor tuga for inland waterways rose from one unit in 1929 to 19 units, valued at 2,580,000rm. in
