Comes to Grief in a
Fog.
WEST OF HOIHOW.
News reached Hong Kong this morning that the Norwegian 5.8. Tonjer fouled a rock on Ching- mei Point, Hainan Straits, last night and is now fast. The ship is under charter to the Kailan Mining Administration (Messra. Dodwell and Co.. Ltd., local agents) and is used as a coal boat. According to Messrs. Karsten, Larssen and Co. (H.K.), Ltd., local agents of the owners of the Tonjer, the ship came to grief in a fog about ten miles to the west of Hoihow. A Japanese salvage boat proceeded to the scene of the mishap from Hainan Head and is now standing by the Tonjer, which is reported to be leaking into the fore hold.
