the interesting fact that in spite of general depression throughout the world during 1930, Eastbound passenger figures for the Canadian Paclic were considerably above the previous year's figures for all lasses. Apart from the several speed records created during the reason gone-by, one of the most re markable records established by the company was when the Duchess of Richmond sailed from Montreal, for Liverpool, with a larger ist of passengers than has been carried by any ship of any line since the be ginning of the Great War.
The increasing popularity of the
St. Lawrence route has bean one of steady, upward tendency, not only amongst Canadians, but amongst American. Britishers, and others- as well, it was stated. Since the advent on this route of the speedy Duchess ships the largest and fastest linors into the port of increase has beer Montreal, this particularly noticeable.
