CHANNEL ACCIDENTS. Busy Day For British Lifeboat Crews.

Rugby, Sept. 19. The lifeboats from Margate, Deal and Clacton 'put out to-day to help two vessels in distress.

A London coasting steamer of 280 tons struck some submerged wreckage and was thereupon beached on Girdler Sands, 20 miles off Margate, and the crew were taken off.

The Deal boat also stood by a brig which nearly capsized in the heavy seas running in the Chan- nel.
