world, and I should say that the odds are 2 to 1 on Berg capturing the title.

BUX...
VETERAN, FLOORED..
Marilla, September 8 Old, fat and slow Iron Bux, essayed an unsuccessful come back against Young, Uzcudun on Satur- day night at the Olymple Stadium.. Bux, who was conceded an out- side chance to cop the verdict, lasted just one round. He was on the mat no less than five times during the first stanza and had to be helped to his corner at the finish of the allray and although his seconds worked over him fran- tically they were unable to bring him around so that he could answer the bell for the second canto.
Rux was a pitiful Agure. Ho entered the ring n licked man aa he was nowhere near condition, his prominent paunch portrayed the lack of training and those who were expecting to see the Bux of old, that crusty, shifty boxer who won the hearts of Manila's fight fans ten years ago or more by his great display of couragé and stamina, were sorely disappointed at the spectacle presented by the old timber on Saturday night.
The veteran didn't have a chance. Uzcudun started to work on him as the first gong rang and didn't let up until the old fellow hád had enough.
The round had hardly started when the popular Spaniard drop- ped Bux with a well timed right to the button which put him down, for the count of eight, Aa Bux dragged himself up to a standing position Uzcudun was on him like à tiger and floored him again with a wallop to the same spot. Bux took the count of nine this time and as he struggled to his pins the uncrowned heavy king smack ed him down again.
Bux was finished and the crowd began to implore referee Eloriags, to stop the slaughter but the old timer showed his fighting heart by getting up again well knowing that he was a beaten roan. Uzcudun dropped him twice more before the stanza ended and Buz had to be carried to his corner.
When the bell rang for the next session, Elino Flores, who was the chief second, for the loser, tossed in the towel as a sign of defeat. it was a good move for the Spaniard was certain to stop the veteran and the punishment that Bux would have received in the second wouldn't have done him any good.
at Premierland, an East London boxing hall, he has shown himself. possessed of an Indomitable fight- ing spirit. For style he has never had much use, and it is mainly his stamina, his wonderful courage, and a dogged refusal to admit, de felt that have carried him through to championship status.
There was a time when he was giad to open taxicab doors outside Premierland for a few stray cop pers. Then a quarrel with another youth led to the discovery that Berg was unusually useful with his fists, and the outcome was that he found himself in the ring at Premierland taking part in his first six-rounds fght...
Berg won, and now seven years later he is worth about £20,000 and is to represent England in a cham- pionship fight.

Berg is not a boxer of the English type. He discovered long ago that the straight left was
sufficient scarcely
to subdue America's husky fighting men, and he therefore developed a remark-v. able blend of straight and hooked punches almed at a breath-taking pace.
The matter..of a title fight with Singer should be settled within the next week or two. The champion is a fighter with a punch.' He took the title from Sammy Mandell with a knockout in 106 seconds, but. Kid Chocolate outpointed him rather easily a year ago, so that'
should Berg
not be greatly troubled to follow suit.
Berg's contest with Chocolate was voted one of the finest seen this is yet another reminder that in the United States for years. the best class boxing is invariably shown by men
in the lighter classes. It Is only the heavy weights who fail to please, yet it is the big men who attract the largest crowds and command the
biggest purses.
